2022 Gottagetit Hoop Classic


The third annual Gottagetit Hoop Classic is in the books, and like the two that preceded it, it was a huge success. 

Brother Rice Head Coach Rick Palmer put it nicely:

"Thank you to Mike Thomas and the entire Grand Blanc Hoops staff for running an absolutely first class event. The Gottagetit Hoop Classic is a great event for Michigan basketball."

Orchard Lake St. Mary's Head Coach Todd Covert agreed, and took it a step further: 

"It's the best event of the year...and it's not even close."

2020 co-MOPs: Lorne Bowman & Matt Nicholson

The second installment of the GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic was absolutely filled with star power, but two players stood out above the rest. Wisconsin recruit Lorne Bowman (Orchard Lake St. Mary's) and Northwestern recruit Matt Nicholson (Clarkston) will spend the next four years doing battle in the Big 10, but on this night, the pair shared Most Outstanding Player honors at this amazing event!

REVIEW: 2nd Annual GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic



For the second straight year, the GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic was a fantastic success. The day was filled with great performances by some of the top players and teams from the state of Michigan and beyond. Two Big 10 recruits (Lorne Bowman and Matt Nicholson) shared Most Outstanding Player honors, and the night was topped off with a thrilling battle between the host Grand Blanc Bobcats and the #1 ranked Orchard Lake St. Mary's Eaglets that went down to the final shot in front of a packed gym of nearly 2500 fans.   

And it wasn't just the fans who thought it was a great day. Participants, sponsors, media, scouts, and college coaches all agreed:

Field Set for 2nd Annual GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic

Star-studded field set for 2nd annual GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic at Grand Blanc High School Twelve top high school teams from throughout Michigan and beyond will gather January 4th at Grand Blanc High School to show off their skills as part of the second annual GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic. Tickets, which are good for all six games, are $10 and will be sold starting at 11am the day of the event. 

The GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic is sure to be the top high school hoops event of the year in the Flint area, as those scheduled to participate include:
  • Five players ranked in the top 15 seniors in Michigan
  • Five players ranked in the top 15 juniors in Michigan
  • Five players ranked in the top 10 sophomores in Michigan 
Among the top-ranked seniors competing at the GOTTAGETIT Hoop Classic this season are a number of players who have signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their education and basketball careers after graduation, while others have yet to make their decision:
